Almost There!

Well I am in the final check-check-double-check of my lists, supplies, clothes and what not for our Hunting Trip.  The part I dread most is hauling it all out to the camper!  I am 100% confident I have over packed in fear of frostbite!

I haven't had a chance to break in those boots much.  Little bit worried about that!  We will have a mile or two to walk one way, so hopefully no blisters!

Pretty much down to the wire with making any food that has to go along.  Normally I would make a big pot of home made Chili for something like this.  But that dish was already 'called', so I opted for Ham & Beans with Corn Bread.

How dumb am I?  They don't call sleeping bags "Fart Sacks" for nothing!

  1. I don't mind the loading of the camper, it's the unpacking I hate. All that dirty laundry and mess. Not sure why beans are a camp food. How did that come about? Probably a way for men to entertain themselves around the camp fire.

  2. Jane, oh yes...hate that too! And I think "Blazing Saddles" will forever be the manly excuse to toot around that fire! Sadly enough, my NIECE is the worst one! Go figure! I, of course being a lady, suffer no such affliction. :)

  3. I don't know. Somehow opting for a lovely quiche with fresh mesclun salad and sorbet for dessert just wouldn't cut it for hunting trip grub.

Go for the ham and beans and take your chances. ;o)

  4. The main purpose of those sock liners (besides extra warmth) is preventing blisters, so hopefully they will do the trick for you. Have fun, I can't wait to see photos! I'm a pretty good packer for camping since normally we are backpackers, everything must fit on our backs, including tents, etc.... but if I had the chance to go in a travel trailer, watch out! I would probably convert to loading things by the dolly very quickly LOL!

  5. Will your phone work out in the wilderness? I might need to call you! Is there power for your sewing machine? Just kidding! Of course if I went on a huntingh trip I would be back in the camper sewing while everyone else was out hunting! Not kidding!

  6. Mama, I am envisioning "the guys" faces when I crack out a quiche! HA! Pretty sure they'd run me off, so yeah I will take my chances with the toot fruit!

Erin, I sure hope the socks work for that too! I did read that on there. Trust me too, I know you'd pack that baby up like no ones business! I mean really, why not? I packed extra for my niece too since we are close to the same size. Us girls, we gotta stick together!

Jan, I don't know if my phone will work or not. Adam's never does, but that's Sprint! I usually have better luck with mine. I should probably bring some knitting or something but that would require a quick retrain and I don't have time!!! :( Plus I just found out, he shuts the camper down at night, so no power. Which means no heat. Thank goodness for flannel sheets and lots of quilts!!

  9. Sounds like fun - except for the fart sacks, cold, tons of clothes and stiff boots....hmmmm.

  10. Susan, sounds like second thoughts to me! The weather is looking good, so I don't think that will be a problem at least! :)
